Our Services
A ‘best
practices” TOLI risk management program must be legally defensible, administratively feasible, and
cost-efficient. The hurdle faced by most TOLI fiduciaries is obtaining credible factual information
reports at a prudent cost.
Credible in-force TOLI policy management
information
Credible in-force
TOLI policy management requires access to policy values, carrier illustrations, and actuarially defensible
reporting of non-guaranteed death benefit policies. Illustration credibility was clarified in 1992 by the
Society of Actuaries and Society of Financial Service Professionals.
For non-guaranteed
death benefit policies, carrier sales and in-force illustrations depict how a policy works but are not appropriate
to project future performance or to compare the cost or performance of different policies. Such illustrations
disclaim predictive value, do not evaluate premium adequacy, and do not assess the reasonableness of
carrier-controlled assumptions. As a result, premium adequacy and policy performance reporting should be
based on a benchmark model that uses actuarial standards, impartial analysis, and objective data. Further,
variable policy reporting should be based on volatility simulation of the selected asset allocation
strategy.
The TOLI Center provides credible, independent and objective monitoring of
trust-owned life insurance (TOLI) policies.

Client
Contracting
Each client
relationship is based on a contracting process that confirms due diligence disclosure information, risk management
guidelines, and report communication. For institutional trustees, following is a summary of our
contracting process:
Administration
Services Agreement: Executed by
The TOLI Center and each client outlining the selected scope of services, carrier selection criteria for
performance monitoring, confidentiality and data security provisions, insurance coverage,
etc. By contract with each client, neither The TOLI Center nor its
principals can serve as a policy provider and cannot directly or indirectly
receive policy based compensation in consideration of its TOLI support services.
Implementation
Guide: Executed by The TOLI
Center and each client confirming contact personnel, trustee administration locations and the hierarchy of policy
and portfolio reporting, new policy data submission options and required data fields, etc. Clients can select
customized services using the TrustBuilder service model developed over 20 years for
institutional trustees or The TOLI Center service model developed for institutional and
professional advisor trustees. The Guide confirms fees and each step of the annual performance review
process.
TOLI Portfolio
data submission and verification: Consultation between The TOLI Center and each client
to review electronic and manual data submission options to install multiple TOLI policies on The TOLI Center’s
administration system. If a new client can only provide limited policy data at implementation, The TOLI
Center will contact carriers directly to obtain the needed data to complete the portfolio installation.
Secure Client
Access to TOLI Data: Trust View,
our secure client site can be authorized for TOLI administrators, managers, internal auditors and officers based on
each client's unique TOLI management environment and authorization criteria.
ILIT Management
Database (IMD): Clients can license a customized ILIT Management software platform to confidentially
manage thier ILIT duties and routinely receive TOLI policy data uploads from The TOLI Center.
